This year has flown by in a blur. It’s already October and I’m just now sitting down to recap the last couple months. Let’s begin with August.
Jesus In A Bar showed up in two nursing homes, two prison facilities, and one Coffee Shop.
Les N Downs and Harrison Hackett brought joy to patients in two of our local nursing homes, Green Hills Rehabilitation, and Trivecca center for rehabilitation. We are so grateful for the opportunities these communities have given our musicianaries to share songs with the elderly in our city. We hope it brightens there day as much as it does ours.
On August 19th we spent the evening at Just Love in Spring Hill. Joanna Yager, Moriah Domby, Amanda Jenson, Amanda Nolan, Michael James, and Eve Sellis took turns sharing songs of faith from the little stage of our favorite coffee shop. An extra round of applause for Amber Grote who stood in as the emcee for the night and Frank Snodgrass who so graciously continues to open the doors of his coffee shop for ministry, always keeping our musicianaries well fed and caffeinated. We love the community that has formed around Jesus In A Bar. So many unique pieces of a puzzle God has perfectly pieced together, each one so special. Praise God.
On August 28th, Garrett Dearing, Harrison Hackett, and Josh Willcutts took an overnight tour to West, TN bringing Jesus behind bars through song to inmates. Once again we were amazed at the worship in prison. It’s unlike anything else I’ve experience. Sometimes we encounter some very talented musicians. The inmate running sound for a couple of our shows was one such prodigy. He goes by the name of Keys a name that clearly depicts his amazing ability on the keys. It didn’t take long for me to realize I needed to step down from the stage and hand over my keyboard. He accompanied us as the event transformed from a performance to public worship, a choir of voices singing praises to God. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, I’ve met men behind bars who have found a freedom in Christ far greater than many who live outside the walls of a prison. I am inspired by these men and I sense a deep love from the Lord for them.
